Suspect in gun-slay of Zambo broadcaster nabbed

Police arrested the suspect in the fatal shooting of veteran broadcaster and columnist Percy Lapid.

The suspect was identified as Joel Estorial, 51. He was arrested in his house in Las Piñas City at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7.

Lapid was shot dead in front of his house in Parañaque City on October 30. He was known for his hard-hitting commentaries against former President Rodrigo Duterte, his allies, and the current administration.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said that Estorial was positively identified by witnesses as the gunman who shot Lapid.

The NBI also said that Estorial has a criminal record, including a conviction for murder.

The arrest of Estorial is a major development in the investigation into Lapid's murder.

The police are still investigating the motive for the killing.
